Five AI site builders, picked on ease, search, upkeep, speed and cost. Then the build, step by step, from idea to a live site on your own domain, with what year one costs and what goes up later.

You describe your business in a chat. The AI builds the site. You change it by asking again, or by clicking on the page. If you have less than $1,000 and a free weekend, this guide takes you from nothing to a live site that Google can read and that works on a phone.
How we checked
I run a small business and want to build my own website with an AI site builder, spending under $1,000 in the first year. I am not technical. Build me an interactive, visual walkthrough I can use while I work. In Claude, make it an artifact. In ChatGPT, use canvas. Use short, plain words. Start by asking me: my business name, what I do, the town or area I serve, who my customers are, the one thing I want visitors to do (book a call, get a quote, visit), my budget, whether I already own a domain, and whether I already pay for ChatGPT. Then suggest one of these builders with a one-line reason, and let me change the pick: Lovable, Base44, v0 (with Vercel), ChatGPT Sites, Hostinger AI Builder. Then show these steps with a progress bar: 1. Collect ideas: three to five sites I like, and what I like about each. 2. Plan four pages: Home, Services, About, Contact, and what each must say. 3. Build with one good first prompt: write it for me from my answers, ready to paste into the builder I picked. 4. Search and sharing basics: page titles, descriptions, a share image (1200 x 630), a favicon, a sitemap and robots.txt. 5. Domain and email: buying or connecting my domain, and business email with SPF, DKIM and DMARC. 6. Speed and phones: running PageSpeed Insights, and what good looks like. 7. Keeping it up to date: when to click and edit, when to ask in chat, and remembering to publish. 8. Visitor stats and extras: stats, Google Search Console, a contact form that emails me, booking. 9. A launch checklist. For every step show: what to do in two or three short lines, why it matters in one line behind a "Why?" button, a prompt I can copy into my builder, a box to tick when done, and a notes box. Add a small cost panel that adds up year one and year two for my choices and warns me when a price is an intro price that goes up later. Rules: keep the text short. Do not invent prices or features. Where a number matters, tell me to check the builder's own pricing page today. Do not put made-up reviews, awards or team members on my site. Make it work on a phone. Keep my answers and ticks saved if your tool allows it. These steps come from the Small Business Elevate guide at https://www.smallbizelevate.com/blog/build-your-site-with-ai
In short
Lovable is our best all-round pick and Base44 the simplest. Hostinger puts site, domain and email on one bill, v0 takes more set-up, and ChatGPT Sites suits anyone already paying for ChatGPT.
We compared several AI site builders and narrowed them to five. We weighed how easy each is to start, whether Google can read the pages, domain and upkeep, speed on phones, and cost.

Help me choose an AI site builder for my small business. Ask me up to five quick questions first: what my business does, the pages I need, whether I need bookings or payments, how comfortable I am with technology, and whether I already pay for ChatGPT. Then recommend one of these and say why in two lines: Lovable, Base44, v0 (with Vercel), ChatGPT Sites, Hostinger AI Builder. Check each one's current pricing page before you answer and give me the links. If a simple drag-and-drop builder would suit me better, say so.
In short
Lovable from $25 a month, Base44 from $20, v0 from $20 with Vercel Pro, ChatGPT Sites with ChatGPT Plus at $20, and Hostinger from $2.99 a month paid four years up front.
Watch out: Credits drain fast if you ask it to fix the same bug again and again.
Visit Lovable (opens in a new tab)Watch out: Slowest on phones in our test. Calendar connectors and payments need the Builder plan: $50 a month, or $40 paid yearly.
Visit Base44 (opens in a new tab)Watch out: Vercel's free hosting is for personal use only. A business site needs Vercel Pro on top of v0.
Visit v0 (opens in a new tab)Watch out: Public beta. Pages arrived complete in our test, but sitemaps were often missing. At launch, OpenAI held Sites back in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland.
Visit ChatGPT Sites (opens in a new tab)Watch out: The low price needs 48 months paid up front and renews at $10.99 a month. Building by chat uses AI credits: 5 come free, then from $4.99 for 10. If the plan lapses, the site goes offline at once. Renew within 30 days or it is deleted for good.

Save three to five sites you like, one from your own trade in another town, and write one line on what you like about each.
Screenshot the part you like and write one line under it: "big photo at the top, one 'Book a call' button".
Most builders accept screenshots. Tell the AI what you like about each one, and to use its own words and images. Copying another business's text, photos or logo is a legal and trust problem.
I run a [type of business] in [town or area]. Find me five websites from similar businesses in other towns that look good on a phone. For each, give me the link and one thing worth borrowing: the layout, the colors, how services are shown, or the main button. Then list three things to avoid. Do not suggest copying their words, photos or logos.
In short
Start with four pages: Home, Services, About and Contact. Add booking, reviews or questions once those four are live.
Start with four. Add booking, reviews or questions and answers once the four are live.
Help me plan a four-page website for my business: Home, Services, About, Contact. Ask me one question at a time until you know what I do, who it is for, my three main services with a "from" price for each, why people trust me, the area I serve, and the one thing I want visitors to do. Then give me a short outline for each page: a headline, three to five short sections, and the main button. Keep the words plain. Do not invent reviews, awards or numbers.
In short
Tell the AI everything in one first prompt: your business, customers, pages, style, contact details and the search basics. Then change one thing per message.
Fill in the brackets, attach your screenshots, and paste it into your builder.
Build a website for my business. Business: [name], a [what you do] in [town or area]. Customers: [who they are and what they need from you]. Pages: Home, Services, About, Contact. Home: one headline that says what we do and where, our three main services, a short line about us, and one main button: [Book a call / Get a quote]. Style: [two or three words, like warm, calm, modern]. Colors: [your colors, or "choose for me"]. The screenshots show what I like. Use them as a reference only. Do not copy their words, photos or logos. Contact page: a form with name, email and message that sends to [your email], plus my phone number [number]. Also add: a page title and description on every page, a share image, a favicon from my logo, a sitemap.xml and a robots.txt. It must work well on a phone. Keep the words short and plain. Do not invent reviews, prices, awards or team members. Ask me questions before you start if anything is missing.
Turn my answers into one prompt I can paste into [Lovable / Base44 / v0 / ChatGPT Sites / Hostinger AI Builder] to build my site. Ask me for anything missing first: business name, what I do, the area I serve, my customers, my three services, my main button, the style I like in two or three words, and my colors. The prompt must ask for four pages (Home, Services, About, Contact), a contact form that emails me, a page title and description on every page, a share image, a favicon, a sitemap.xml and robots.txt, and a layout that works on a phone. It must tell the builder not to invent reviews, prices, awards or people.
In short
Ask your builder by name for a page title, description, share image, favicon, sitemap and robots.txt. Then add the site to Google Search Console.
Google and link previews read a few hidden parts of every page. Your builder can add them all. Ask for each one by name.

Some builders send a blank page and fill it in on the visitor's screen, using code called JavaScript. Google can usually wait for that. Many AI tools and link previews do not wait, so they see nothing.

<div id="root"></div>Live sites we tested that arrived with their words in place
Our test, 2 October 2026: live sites found on GitHub, fetched without running JavaScript. Base44 free addresses sent a short summary instead. Lovable says projects made since 13 May 2026 arrive complete; the ones we found used its older set-up. Hostinger says the same for chat-built sites from 21 September 2026; the three empty ones we found were made before that date. A December 2024 Vercel study found the main AI crawlers do not run JavaScript.
Ask Lovable to upgrade the project to its newer set-up (TanStack Start), so pages arrive complete. Lovable says this costs 10 to 35 credits.
Once the site is live, add it to Google Search Console (free) and submit your sitemap. Lovable and Base44 can connect it for you.
Look at my website, [your address]. If you can browse, check the home page and one other page, and tell me in plain words whether each has: a page title of about 60 characters, a meta description, one main heading, a share image (og:image, 1200 x 630), a favicon, a sitemap at /sitemap.xml and a robots.txt. Then write a better title and description for each of my pages, and the exact sentence to send my site builder to fix anything missing. If you cannot browse, tell me how to check each item myself.

Of the five builders, only Hostinger includes mailboxes, and they are free for the first year only. Otherwise pick one: Google Workspace Business Starter is $7 a month per person on a yearly plan. Hostinger Email starts at $0.39 a mailbox a month if you pay 48 months up front, then renews at $1.59. Zoho Mail has a free plan for up to five people. Whichever you pick, turn on SPF, DKIM and DMARC in its set-up steps. Gmail and Yahoo have asked for them since 2024, and Gmail now rejects mail that fails these checks.
Walk me through connecting my domain to my website and setting up business email. My domain is [yourbusiness.com], bought at [registrar]. My site builder is [builder]. My email will be with [Google Workspace / Hostinger Email / Zoho Mail / not sure yet]. Give me one small step at a time and wait for me to say "done" before the next. Tell me exactly which page and button to look for. Warn me before any change that could stop my existing email from working. Finish by helping me check that SPF, DKIM and DMARC are set.

Medians from Lighthouse on a simulated slow phone, one run per site, 2 October 2026. Base44 sites were on free addresses. Hostinger sites were made with its current AI Builder, in both modes. Small samples, and the owner's choices matter as much as the builder, so treat gaps under 15 points as noise.
Whatever you build with, test your own site. Big photos are the usual reason a page is slow. Ask the builder to compress them.
On your own phone, check that the text is readable without zooming, buttons are easy to tap, and your phone number calls when tapped.
I ran my website through PageSpeed Insights (pagespeed.web.dev). Here are the mobile results: [paste the scores and the list of issues, or attach a screenshot]. Then write the exact requests to send my site builder, one fix per message, easiest first.

Make small edits by clicking on the page and bigger ones by chat. Then press Publish, or your changes stay in a draft.

In most builders, edits stay in a draft until you publish again. If a change is not showing, that is usually why.
Make me a 15-minute monthly checklist for my small business website, built with [builder]. Include: checking prices, hours and contact details; sending a test through the contact form; looking at the site on my phone; reading my visitor stats; running the builder's security scan if it has one; and noting when my plan, domain and email renew. Also give me a short template for asking the builder to make a change safely: one change per message, and ask it to tell me what it changed.

I am choosing an AI site builder for a small business website. Today is [today's date]. Check these facts against each company's own pricing page and help docs, and give me the link you used for each answer. 1. Lovable, Base44, v0 (with Vercel), ChatGPT Sites and Hostinger AI Builder: what is the cheapest plan that lets me use my own domain name? Monthly price, yearly price, and how many months I must pay up front to get it. 2. For each one: can the free plan publish a site? Does it show the builder's badge? 3. Which of these prices go up after the first term or first year, and to what? Include free domains and free mailboxes that start charging later. 4. What happens to my site if I stop paying? 5. Can I buy a domain inside the builder? What does a .com cost in the first year, and at renewal? 6. Is there built-in visitor analytics, and does it cost extra? 7. Do credits or messages run out each month? What does a top-up cost? 8. Do search engines get the full page, or only after JavaScript runs? Quote the builder's own docs. 9. Business email: today's price of Google Workspace Business Starter, Microsoft 365 Business Basic and Hostinger Email, what each renews at, and one free option. Show the answers as one table. Where a page does not say, write "not stated". Do not guess.
In short
An AI builder gets you a site. Security, email set-up, spam checks, accessibility and upkeep still sit with you. Over $1,000, or want AI built in? We can build it.
These are the jobs people miss, because they rarely show on launch day. If you want AI built into your site, such as an assistant that answers customers from your own information, we can build it for you. See how we build sites and apps. We come from a cybersecurity background, so the first row is the one we would never skip.
In 2025, a security researcher checked about 1,645 Lovable apps and found 170 that let strangers read data they should not (CVE-2025-48757). The same year, Wiz found a way into private Base44 apps. Both companies fixed their side. Their docs still say the security of what you build is yours.
Want the security row on your own? Our AI security checklist walks through it in plain steps.
Act as a careful reviewer of my small business website, [your address], built with [builder]. In plain words, help me check: who can see or change the messages from my contact form; whether any secret keys are visible in the page; whether my contact form has spam protection; whether my email has SPF, DKIM and DMARC; whether the site works with a keyboard and has image descriptions; and whether I have a privacy page. For each, tell me how to check it myself and what to ask my builder to fix. Tell me which items need an expert.
We last read this through in October 2026. Tools, prices and rules change, so paste the prompt below into any AI assistant you use and ask it to check the parts that date.
I'm reading "Build your business site with AI for under $1,000" by Small Business Elevate, last reviewed 2 October 2026. Please check whether these points are still true today. Use each company's own pricing page and help docs, and give me the link and date for each answer. 1. Lovable Pro is $25 a month, or $250 a year if you pay yearly, for 100 credits a month, and it is the cheapest Lovable plan that allows your own domain. New Lovable projects render pages on the server. 2. Base44 Starter is $20 a month ($16 a month paid yearly) and allows your own domain. Connectors such as Google Calendar, and payments, need the Builder plan. 3. v0 Plus is $30 a month. Vercel's free Hobby plan is for non-commercial, personal use only, so a business site needs Vercel Pro at $20 a month. 4. ChatGPT Sites is in public beta, comes with ChatGPT Plus ($20 a month) and higher plans, can use a domain you own, and does not sell domains. 5. Hostinger AI Builder Premium is $2.99 a month only when 48 months are paid up front ($143.52), then renews at $10.99 a month. Its free domain and two mailboxes are free for the first year only. 6. A .com costs about $11 to $12 a year at Cloudflare or Porkbun, and GoDaddy renews a .com at $22.99. Google Workspace Business Starter is $7 a user a month on a yearly plan. Hostinger Email Starter is $0.39 a mailbox a month on a 48-month term and renews at $1.59. 7. Google's "good" thresholds are still: main content within 2.5 seconds (LCP), reaction to a tap within 200 milliseconds (INP), layout shift under 0.1 (CLS). If you cannot confirm something, say "could not verify" rather than guessing. Keep the answer short and show it as a table.
